Keeping your workplace safe, compliant, and up to code

Electrical Test & Tag Services

Electrical safety is a non-negotiable in any commercial or industrial workplace. At GLS Electrical, we provide test and tag services in line with AS/NZS 3760, helping businesses stay compliant and protect their staff, customers, and assets.

We work with a wide range of industries to regularly inspect and test portable electrical appliances, tools, and equipment—identifying any hidden faults before they become hazards.

Whether you need testing for a single site or across multiple locations, we’ll ensure your electrical gear is safe, tagged, and fully documented.

What is Test and Tag?

Testing and tagging involves two steps:

1. Visual inspection of electrical appliances for damage or wear
2. Electrical testing using a calibrated Portable Appliance Tester (PAT) to assess insulation, polarity, earthing, and leakage

Once tested, the item is fitted with a durable tag showing:
Test date
Next due date
Technician name or ID
Appliance ID (if part of a register)

A detailed test report is provided to help with record-keeping, insurance, and audit compliance.

Electrical safety made simple—compliant test and tag for every workplace.

What Needs to Be Tested?

Test and tag requirements apply to:

Power tools and machinery
Extension leads and power boards
Office equipment (computers, monitors, chargers)
Kitchen appliances (kettles, toasters, fridges)
Portable site lighting and lead reels
Construction site equipment
Workshop and warehouse devices
Any plug-in electrical equipment in a commercial, industrial, or public setting

Different environments have different testing intervals. For example:

Every 3 months on construction sites
Every 6–12 months in manufacturing, warehousing, or kitchens
Every 5 years in low-risk office environments (for fixed or rarely moved equipment)

We’ll guide you on what applies to your workplace.

Why It Matters

Testing and tagging helps:
